Real time with Amy

My weekly blogging has gotten away from me; my sincere apologies friends. What a week!!!

This week the senior Brokers from BMIC attended the Maryland Mortgage Brokers convention and learned some really cool stuff. The majority of the convention focused on social media and marketing. As I took stock of the room (don’t deny, we all do it) I was stunned to see that less 5% of the attendees were gen X. How are these long time mortgage professionals grasping this new era of social media.. So I asked Gary. He started to talk about the good ole days; interest rates @17%; houses for $30,000; median household income less than $50,000 a year and then he threw me a ringer… handwritten loan applications. Gasp!!!! I can’t even imagine hand writing a loan application none the less, writing a hand written letter. As our conversation continued I started to think about how to bridge the gap between the old way and the new way. I was always told, “if it aint broke, don’t fix it.” How can that saying stay relevant in 2013? So I began thinking back to the basics; however the basics haven’t changed!! I still take a full loan application, I still run credit, I still run the loan though automated underwriting, I still produce a package of documents for you to sign… My executions of these steps are just a little more high tech! As I write this blog I began to think about how to incorporate the new age high tech social outlets to BMIC. Video blogging!!! I mentioned this idea to Gary, needless to say I may be video blogging solo.. So here are a few questions for my readers; what do you want to know about that’s related to mortgages? How can I make the process easier for you? My job is to make this transaction easy for you, so feedback is really important to me!

So bringing it back together, today, my blog isn’t about interest rates which are still very low, or turn times with lenders, which are getting better. This blog is about us, and our next 30 days together buying your new home or refinancing the one you live in already. The best part of my job is talking to you and being a positive part of your life, so call me and tell me what’s new with you. While we’re on the phone of course Ill evaluate your current mortgage standing, update your email addresses and add you to my Facebook and twitter pages!!!!

Thank you all for reading my blog, I hope you laughed a little. Please stay tuned for Monday Mortgage Mash Up with Gary! Have a great weekend!!
